Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of Steel & Petroleum and Natural Gas virtually inaugurated Asia’s first Continuous Galvanized Rebar (CGR) Production Facility near Gobindgarh, Punjab launched by Madhav KRD Group in association with International Zinc Association with the support of Hindustan Zinc Limited. The demand of zinc in India grew 4-5 % CAGR (compounded annual growth rate) in the last 10 years.
Government bans 59 Chinese mobile apps prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY), invoking its power under section 69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000 read with the relevant provisions of the Information Technology (Procedure and Safeguards for Blocking of Access of Information by Public) Rules 2009 has decided to ban 59 apps (which includes popular apps like Tik Tok, UC Browser etc) due to their activities which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order.
Nitin Gadkari Launched Portal with New Classification and Registration of MSMEs: ‘Udyam Registration’
Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Nitin Jairam Gadkari released the consolidated notification in the form of guidelines for classification and registration of MSMEs, which are facing several challenges due to the COVID-19 impact. The new process of Classification and Registration of MSMEs will be known as ‘Udyam Registration’. As per the notification, enterprise will be called in the name of ‘Udyam’.

PM announced extension of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana till November 2020
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during televised address to the nation, has announced the extension of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana (PMGKAY) from July 2020 till the end of November 2020, with an outlay of more than Rs 90,000 crore. The scheme was initially rolled out for three months i.e. AprilJune (116.34 lakh metric tonne (LMT) food grains provided during that period).
India, Japan Hold PASSEX Naval Exercise to Promote Understanding in Indian Ocean
Indian Navy and Japanese Navy (Japanese Maritime Self-Defence Force - JMSDF) have conducted a day long Naval Exercise PASSEX (Passing Exercise) for tactical and communications training, towards the Malacca Strait in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR). The exercise consisted of four warships viz. INS Rana and INS Kulish of Indian Navy and JS Kashima and JS Shimayuki of JMSDF’s training squadron.
Central govt Implemented Amendments in the Indian Stamp Act, 1899 and Rules from 1st July, 2020
Central Government has enforced the amendments to the Indian Stamp Act, 1899, and the Indian Stamp (Collection of Stamp-Duty through Stock Exchanges, Clearing Corporations and Depositories) Rules, 2019 as proposed under Part I, Chapter IV of the Finance Act, 2019 on 10th December, 2019 to implement uniform stamp duty on security market instruments from July 1, 2020. Clearing Corporation of India Limited (CCIL) under the jurisdiction of RBI and the Registrars to an Issue and/or Share Transfer Agents (RTI/STAs) to act as a collecting agent.
Government Declares Entire Nagaland ‘Disturbed Area’ for 6 more Months Under AFSPA Act 1958
The Government of India declared the entire Nagaland as a “disturbed area” for another six months from 30th June 2020 to 31st December 2020 by exercising the powers conferred by Section 3 of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958.
India-Bangladesh form 50:50 Joint Venture Company for LPG Business in Bangladesh
India and Bangladesh signed an agreement for formation of 50:50 Joint Venture Company (JVC) of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) business in Bangladesh. IOC Middle East FZE, Dubai, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Indian Oil Corporation and RR Holdings Ltd., Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, the holding company of Beximco LPG, Bangladesh.
NITI Aayog in collaboration with RMI released ‘Towards a Clean Energy Economy’ report The new report on clean energy transition in India titled “Towards a Clean Energy Economy: Post-Covid19 Opportunities for India’s Energy and Mobility Sectors” brought out jointly by the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog and the Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) to support India’s clean energy future. As per the report, India’s transport sector can save 1.7 Giga Tonnes (GT) of cumulative carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) and avoid about 600 million tonnes of oil equivalent in fuel demand by 2030. The renewable energy target of GoI is175 GW of solar and wind by 2022 and 500 GW by 2030.
